Albert Jay Cottle III
Albert Jay Cottle III also graduated from East Carolina University in 1995 with a construction management degree and minor in business. Upon graduation, Jay III moved back to Wilmington and worked and gained valuable experience in the commercial construction field with Clancy & Theys Construction Company. Some of the multi-million dollar projects that Jay was involved in included Fort Fisher & Pine Knoll Shores Aquarium, UNCW classroom building, and Belks Department store in Mayfaire. In 2005 Mr. Cottle switched directions by gaining his General Contractors License and started his own residential construction company and performed many renovations and some new construction until the economy plummeted in the 2009-2011 meltdown. Jay III moved to Charlotte, NC and received training through the Building Performance Institute in order to perform residential energy audits and retrofits. In 2011 Jay decided this market was not the best choice and moved back to Wilmington to go in business with his dad and become a residential real estate appraiser. For the past 9 years, Jay III has been appraising residential real estate in the New Hanover, Brunswick, Pender, and Duplin Counties. Jay has valuable experience in appraising new construction dwellings, purchases, HELOC/refinances, relocation valuations, land, and market analysis for individuals. In Jay’s personal time he loves to play tennis, racquetball, and spending time with his beautiful baby girl (Mary-Myers) and wife (Lara).
Albert Jay Cottle Jr.
Albert Jay Cottle Jr. graduated from East Carolina University in 1968 and worked as an insurance claims adjuster for a short period of time until he began his real estate sales career in the 1970s with his partner Ed Miller. Unfortunately, in 1981 Mr. Miller died in a plane crash and with the interest rates at an all-time high Jay Jr. decided to switch directions as a residential real estate appraiser. Jay Jr. has been appraising properties in the New Hanover, Brunswick, Pender, and Duplin Counties for over 50 years and also is a Certified Real Estate Instructor. Mr. Cottle recently has achieved an award of Realtor Emeritus from the Cape Fear Realtors. In Jay Jr.’s spare time he enjoys riding his motorcycle and spending time with family.
